With less than one month to go before the half marathon, Lydia has given us a brief update on the race, training and her expectations.
Having run the Cardiff Half Marathon route for a number of years’ now, I am fairly comfortable with the upcoming race. Towards the end of last year, I joined a bootcamp which is run at the Cardiff Arms park, Celtic Fitness, and have been working a little on strength and conditioning which will hopefully help me through the run and also the 200 mile bike ride later in the year! Living in Cardiff means I get to run different sections of the route but I have struggled a little with getting runs in as I am definitely a fair-weather runner and hate the cold, dark, rainy nights but was happy this week as I made use of the leap day, braved the weather and went out Monday evening after work. I’m looking forward to our running vests arriving in the office in the next week or so, to see Dallaglio design and really show our support for such a great cause. I’ll be aiming for a sub 2:15 time, wishing for good weather and enjoying the iconic flat route around Cardiff!
