MERCHISTON’S TOUR TO SOUTH AFRICA
With just three days to go I have taken a look back at the journey I’ve been on to get in better shape for my inspireslam charity challenge – a timed race over the highest mountain in the middle of Wales, along the same route the SAS use as part of their selection process.
There has been blood sweat and tears along the way – lots of hard runs over hills in the rain and the occasional bit of sunshine. We have had a safety briefing email through warning us both of lighting strikes (2 people died on the same route this time last year) and in 2012 some soldiers passed away with Heat related issues, so I’m now filled with nervous excitement at the challenge that lies ahead. Its not too late to donate so that I can carry your well wishes around with me (as well as a 20lb pack over 24km and 1400m vertical gain!)
